Howard M. Clark

Howard M. Clark, age 85, of Du Quoin, passed away in the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. on Tuesday, August 17, 2004.
Howard was born on December 25, 1918 in Pinckneyville, the son of Howard W. Clark and Ruth (Craig) Clark.  In 1940, he married Ruby Brown in Pinckneyville and she preceded him in death in 1986.  Then in 1987, he married Nina (Mohr) Matson in Pinckneyville and she preceded him in death in 1989.  Howard worked in the coal industry before retiring from Consol Coal Company in 1983 and was a member of the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Rev. Ted Clark and wife Peggy of Du Quoin; two daughters, Ruth Alfeldt of East Peoria and Joy L. Porter and husband Richard of Du Quoin; two step-daughters, Beverly Walter of Petersburg, Va. and Linda Bazar of Jacksonville Fla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; an infant sister; a granddaughter, Kimberly Clark and a son-in-law, Edward Alfeldt.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 19 at the Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home in Du Quoin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ted Clark officiating.  Interment was in Mueller HIll Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Memorial donations may be made to the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church.
